Last year, football clubs around the world spent nearly two billion dollars on player transfers, of which football agents received 124 million. This emerges from a study by the International Football Federation (FIFA), published yesterday on its website. How much of that sum could Slovak agents have earned? “In 2012, there were no significant transfers from Slovakia abroad. So the percentage of the global amount allocated to agents for Slovaks is negligible,” football agent Jozef Tokos told the Economic Daily.

Among international transfers, clubs from the richest league in the world, the English Premier League, paid agents the most – 45 million. They were followed by Italian clubs (31 million) and Russian teams (18 million). “It is not possible to determine precisely how much agents earn from transfers. Each case is individual. But one thing is certain: the more lucrative the transfer an agent completes, the higher their potential income,” Tokos said. According to the study, the vast majority of transfers were made to European clubs, over six thousand in total. This is three times more than the second-ranked continent, South America.
