Slovak goalkeeper Jan Mucha Jr. will most likely finish the current 2009/2010 season with his present employer, Polish top-flight club Legia Warsaw

Slovak goalkeeper Jan Mucha Jr. will most likely finish the current 2009/2010 season in the jersey of his present employer, Polish first-division club Legia Warsaw. This was reported by the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza, which confirmed the information with the player’s agent Jozef Tokos. Only a few days ago, Tokos had claimed that the best goalkeeper of Poland’s Ekstraklasa would leave Legia with 99 percent certainty already in the winter. Now, however, the situation has reportedly changed, and the 27-year-old from Bela nad Cirochou should stay at Lazienkowska until the end of June. After that, he will certainly leave, most likely for the British Isles, where in recent days he negotiated with potential suitors. Stoke City, Glasgow Rangers, and most recently Tottenham Hotspur were mentioned. If Mucha signs a contract with one of these clubs, it would be valid from July 1, 2010, after the end of the current season.

Currently second in the Polish league standings, Legia Warsaw began preparations for the spring part of the 2009/2010 season on Thursday, January 14, at 11:00 a.m. The Slovak goalkeeper was not present at the opening training session after the winter break, although on Wednesday evening he was already on his way back from the British Isles. The day before the start of winter training, even Legia’s goalkeeping coach Krzysztof Dowhan, to whom Jan Mucha Jr. had promised he would be the first to know everything, still had no information about a possible contract with a new employer.
