Jan Mucha Jr. for the SITA agency: "I am very satisfied, finally I can focus only on football. It’s a pity that Legia and my new club agreed not to disclose more detailed information."

The transfer saga concerning Slovak goalkeeper Jan Mucha Jr., currently playing for the Polish club Legia Warsaw, has almost reached its conclusion. Slovakia’s number one signed a pre-contract agreement with a new employer on Wednesday, January 20. However, following an agreement between Legia and the new club of the 27-year-old goalkeeper from Bela nad Cirochou, neither side will reveal which team it is. Even the country remains unknown, although the English connection is considered the most likely.

“Today in Malaga, Janko signed a three-year contract with his new employer. At the club’s explicit request, however, we cannot disclose its name,” said his agent Jozef Tokos for the SITA agency, adding: “Most likely Janko will remain at Legia until the end of the current season. It is possible that before the end of the transfer window an interesting loan option might appear at the last minute, but he certainly cannot transfer anywhere. The contract with his new employer comes into effect on July 1 of this year.”

“I am extremely happy that I signed a contract with my new employer. It’s a pity that Legia and my new club agreed not to disclose more detailed information. I am really glad that the whole matter is settled now. From this moment I can focus only on football. It is also special that it happened on my girlfriend’s birthday, which makes my feelings even better. This new engagement is definitely a step forward for me. I regret that I cannot reveal at least a little more, not even the country where I will play from July,” said Jan Mucha Jr. for the SITA agency right after signing the contract, while currently at training camp with Legia in Malaga, Spain. The clubs also agreed not to disclose financial details of the three-year deal.

In the spring part of this season, the former goalkeeper of Inter Bratislava, Humenne, and Zilina is expected to continue playing for Legia Warsaw. “I am glad that I will still be able to be with my teammates, whom I know very well. Poland has become my second home, I have been here for more than four years and I’ve settled in. Moreover, I should be playing regularly, which will certainly be an advantage before the World Cup,” added Jan Mucha Jr.

Negotiations about Jan Mucha Jr.’s next destination lasted several weeks. Jozef Tokos made 17 air trips in the past three weeks. “It was demanding and very lengthy, but it also proves Janko’s qualities and the interest from various parts of Europe,” added Tokos.

Several leading European clubs had long been interested in J. Mucha. There was talk of interest from Scotland’s Glasgow Rangers, Turkey’s Trabzonspor, Spain’s Espanyol Barcelona, and several English teams. The Premier League appears to be the hottest lead. The greatest interest among the English top-flight participants came from Stoke City, Everton, Wigan Athletic, and Tottenham.
