The 27-year-old current first-choice keeper of the Slovak national team is expected to join his new teammates after this year’s World Cup, where he should feature in Slovakia’s shirt. The former goalkeeper of Inter Bratislava, Humenne and Zilina agreed on a contract with the Toffees that takes effect from July 1, 2010. Mucha is set to play the spring part of the 2009/2010 season with Legia Warsaw, although his agent Jozef Tokos confirmed to the SITA agency that there is still a chance he could leave on a six-month loan to a leading club in a southern European league.
From the summer, Slovak goalkeeper Ján Mucha will be joined in Liverpool by his compatriot and national team colleague Martin Skrtel, who wears the shirt of Everton’s rivals, Liverpool FC. “It’s great that Janko has found a top English club. I’m glad that from the summer there will be two Slovak footballers in Liverpool,” said the 25-year-old defender of Liverpool about the transfer of the goalkeeper from Bela nad Cirochou to Everton.
