He could have faced a fine
The transfer of Slovak goalkeeper Ján Mucha (27) was announced in an unusual way. Official reports only stated that the keeper had signed a three-year contract valid from July 1, 2010. However, according to our reliable information, Mucha will become the goalkeeper of English side Everton in the summer.
“Both I and Legia (Mucha’s current club – ed.) pressed the representatives of Ján’s new club to allow us to reveal their name. But they were absolutely against it,” said Jozef Tokos, agent of Slovakia’s No. 1 goalkeeper. “This condition is even written into the contract Ján signed,” Tokos continued.
Had he broken it, Mucha could have faced sanctions, including a financial penalty. And why was Everton against making their name official? Reportedly, to avoid discouraging the young goalkeepers at the Liverpool club, who have been waiting months for their chance in training. It might also have been a tactical move, in case other clubs expressed interest in their current No. 1, Tim Howard.
