I believe he will attract attention
Zdroj: Sport, Mojmir StaskoThe agent JOZEF TOKOS on the chances of our defender in the draft of a remarkable project
Jozef Tokos is one of the established football agents, but the Indian project is a novelty even for him.
With what expectations do you view the upcoming PLS draft?
“It will be interesting. And it would be even more interesting if Igor were selected. But the fact that he is there at all, among twenty players from all over the world, is already a big success. Still, I believe that Igor will succeed in the draft. His advantage is his position – he’s a centre-back, his height, which must catch the eye of Asians, and I believe also the fact that among so many players from Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Nigeria, he will stand out as a European player.”
How did you even get to this opportunity? Was it also about more specific contacts?
“It came through cooperation with my partners in London. And in the final stage, it was about me having to recommend a suitable player. The criteria were fairly strict – they mentioned age, international experience in youth national teams, quality level. And the player has to be free, since he is to be drafted. It was demanding for Igor too. In the summer he had some offers, but he had to turn them down. Now he has signed a memorandum, so it’s binding on his side as well. The advantage, of course, is that he is free and that he wants to go there.”
Asia is specific, and footballing India is an even bigger question mark for us than China, Japan, or Iran...
“That’s true. Of course, I’ve arranged transfers to the Netherlands, England, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, and other European countries, and a few years ago the transfer of Jozef Gáspár to Japan. This is really something quite different. Certainly unique, interesting. Also for Igor, who already had one Asian offer even before the period of our cooperation. But I believe this project will work. The agency behind it has managed to attract big names. India itself is certainly interesting for the football market. The project will have media support, television, and a multi-million audience. In India, cricket is number one, and behind it there is nothing for a very long time – but this project could give football a real boost. The structure of their leagues is still fragmented, and this could bring it together, although for now it is a project in which clubs from one territory, West Bengal, will participate.”
