Everton wants to sell Mucha
Zdroj: Economic Daily, (red)Former Slovak international goalkeeper faces the end of his Premier League career. His club is already looking for a replacement.
Slovak goalkeeper Ján Mucha is in danger of leaving the world’s most prestigious football competition, the Premier League. Everton manager David Moyes, according to skysports.com, confirmed that he is looking for competition for the team’s number one, Tim Howard. The Slovak joined the club two years ago in the summer and has since been sitting on the bench. Moreover, the former international’s contract expires after this season. “Ján’s priority has always been to play regularly. That has not changed. Everton’s position until now, however, was that they did not want to let him go out on loan,” said the goalkeeper’s agent Jozef Tokos for the Economic Daily.
Chance may come in the winter
Moyes has already identified a new goalkeeper for the team – Craig Gordon. “We need to increase competition in the squad, and that includes the goalkeeper position,” said the Everton manager. Mucha’s contract expires in June, after which he will become a free agent and can leave for another club without compensation. This is one of the reasons why Everton plans to sell him already during the winter transfer window. According to his agent, Mucha is not against a transfer to another club. “Until now, he was not considering another team, as Everton had no other backup goalkeeper. But if an interesting offer comes in the winter, he will consider it,” added Tokos. Mucha came to the English Premier League in the summer of 2010 from Polish side Legia Warsaw. Since his contract there had expired, Everton signed him on a free transfer.
Only a substitute
Since then, however, he has been only a substitute at Everton. Mucha has not played a single Premier League match and has made just seven appearances in the League Cup. This was also one of the reasons why he temporarily ended his international career. After the 1–1 draw in Lithuania, where his mistake led to a goal, he announced that he would only return to the national team once he was playing regularly at club level.
