Weiss: Mucha wants to transfer to our Kairat
Zdroj: SME, Pavol SpalSlovak goalkeeper Ján Mucha would like to play in Kazakhstan according to coach Weiss. Everton, however, does not want to release him at the moment.
Under Vladimír Weiss, Ján Mucha rose to become a key player and first-choice goalkeeper of the national team. Both had a major share in qualifying for the World Cup in South Africa. But afterward, both went through unsuccessful periods, came under public pressure, and eventually left the national team. Today Weiss, who coaches the Kazakh club FC Kairat Almaty, is trying to lure Mucha back into his team. “I spoke with Jano, he would like to transfer to us. The problem is that he still has a valid contract in England that expires in the summer. If Everton were to buy another goalkeeper during this transfer window, we could focus on bringing Mucha in,” Weiss said for Kairat’s club website.
They cannot comment
According to the Slovak coach, it is also realistic that Mucha will strengthen Kairat in the summer. “Of course, unless he changes his mind in the meantime.” Kazakh media have already linked Mucha with a move to Almaty. “After the agreement with the player (Mucha), we cannot comment or say anything,” responded his agent Jozef Tokos to our question about whether Mucha desires a transfer to Kairat.
For now they won’t let him go
Thirty-year-old Mucha moved from Legia Warsaw to Everton as a free agent after the 2010 World Cup. In the Premier League, he has not played a single match so far. He only got chances in a few cup games. This season he has played just once in the cup. Recently, British media reported that he is for sale. This winter transfer window is Everton’s last chance to get a fee for the Slovak. After the season his contract ends and he can leave as a free player. Everton has so far refused to let Mucha go on loan, as they needed a backup goalkeeper of sufficient quality. They also did not agree to a premature termination of the contract. “Everton won’t let him go anywhere at the moment,” concluded Tokos. However, the situation may still change before the end of the transfer window if Everton finds a suitable second-choice goalkeeper. Weiss’s Kairat is, however, likely to be strengthened by Slovak defender with national team experience Ľubomír Michalík, who did not extend his contract with English third-league side FC Portsmouth.
