Qatari owner of the French club is ready to pay nearly 50 million euros.
He was behind last summer’s best transfer, when he brought in Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He made waves again in winter, when he signed English football icon David Beckham. And the Qatari sheikh Nasser Al-Khelaifi, owner of Paris Saint-Germain, continues to shock. This summer he wants to acquire another star, Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. The goal of the Paris giant’s owner is to build, from next season, a dream strike partnership of Ibrahimovic and Rooney. “Every transfer is realistic, so this one as well. Rooney is a fantastic player and would certainly be an amazing reinforcement for Paris. The question is whether he will want to leave England,” football agent Jozef Tokos told the Economic Daily.
Money is not a problem
Although Rooney still has a valid contract with the “Red Devils” until 2015, for the Qatari owner it would be no problem to buy him out. According to British media, Manchester is asking about 46 million euros for its star. In addition, the Parisians would have to pay Rooney a hefty salary – his weekly wage at the Premier League club is 290,000 euros. The move to Paris is made more likely by the fact that in this season Rooney has been overshadowed by Dutchman Robin van Persie, who is currently the number one man at the club. But that’s not all. The Paris club’s owner is not interested only in Rooney. He would also like to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, for whom he reportedly offered 100 million euros in winter, according to French media. The Qatari owner came to Paris in August 2011, and since then has spent a total of a quarter of a billion euros on new signings.
He could follow Ronaldo
The leader of the English national team may have played only in the British Isles during his career, but according to our agent he would have no problem succeeding in France as well. Cristiano Ronaldo himself left Manchester United for Europe, and in Real Madrid he became one of the world’s best players. “Rooney could follow his path and be a major asset even in a club other than the team from Old Trafford,” added Tokos.
