When allocating subsidies to individual sports federations, the current ministry leadership is working from a slightly modified version of the system prepared by former minister Eugen Jurzyca’s reform group — the so-called Tokos team. Unlike the previous administration, the current one places greater emphasis on domestic popularity (public interest in the sport), but the core formula for calculating subsidies (success × popularity × youth interest) remains largely the same. After all, if the goal is to find a fair system for distributing state funds among sports federations, it’s hard to bypass such criteria as a sport’s success, its standing in international competition, and especially the level of youth engagement in it. For this reason, it’s no surprise that today’s sports leadership is operating more or less within the framework already set by Tokos’s team.
