If Germany succeeds in Brazil, the Bundesliga champions will earn hundreds of thousands. FIFA pays clubs for footballers playing at the World Cup.

Seventy million dollars — that is the amount FIFA will distribute among league clubs, simply for having their players represent national teams at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil. The club with the best chance of cashing the biggest cheque so far is Bayern Munich. The club has as many as 14 national team players, half of them German. If Germany reaches the final, Bayern could earn up to 900,000 dollars just for them. “The biggest earner is the club that has the most players at the World Cup, concentrated in one national team that also delivers good results,” explains football agent Jozef Tokos.

Clubs receive 2,800 dollars (more than 2,000 euros) per player for each day they spend at the championship. The calculation begins two weeks before the opening whistle in Brazil, which was on June 12. “This amount is fixed and does not depend on the player’s market value or other factors. It is meant to compensate for the increased load placed on players,” football agent Jozef Tokos told the Economic Daily. Bayern, with seven German internationals and seven foreign representatives, also has a strong chance because Germany is once again among the favourites. “Germany is a tournament team that regularly finishes among the top four. I predict at least a semi-final for them,” said former Czechoslovak international and well-known football agent Július Bielik. (...)
