We don't let Oravec go, he will stay in Žižkov for the rest of the season

With the highest probability, the Slovak national football player Tomas Oravec will play for the Czech last team of the Gambrinus league – Viktoria Zizkov during the spring. The transfer window will close on the 31st January, but according to Ivan Hornik, sports director, the Slovak forward will stay in Zizkov. “We will not let Tomas leave anywhere. Our goal is to keep the club in the league, therefore we cannot afford to let one of the best players of the team go,” said Ivan Hornik for the Národná obroda Daily.

The Slovak national team player’s contract with Viktoria expires on the 30th June 2004.If the club does not sell him till that date, it will not get anything for him in the summer. “We do not expect it to happen. We have already prepared a few possibilities how to avoid that. We want to achieve the satisfaction of both, the club and the player,” added Hornik. In the last weeks, several Czech and foreign clubs were interested in Zizkov´s forward, but the Viktoria management has not got any official offer, so far. “It seems Tomas will not leave the club, but by the transfer date, anything can occur. Everything depends on the Mr. Hornik,” reacted Oravec’s agent Jozef Tokos, FIFA licensed agent.

The player himself is right now practicing in Blsany with his club and he prepares for the beginning of the spring period. “If the club does not sell me now, I will play during the spring period in Zizkov and then I will leave. But for sure, I will not prolong the contract with Viktoria. The management has now the opportunity to sell me and if they do not do so, unfortunately, in the summer, I will be a free agent,” said Tomas Oravec. So Zizkov management are in a complicated situation – if Oravec stays in the team and helps Zizkov, he will become a free player in the summer. If they sell him within next days, without his important goals, they risk to be relegated to the second league.
