The Slovak football league is rated one of the worst in Europe. Despite of that, there are still clubs which are able to transfer a player in each transfer window.
Last time it was Stanislav Šesták, former Žilina player, or the couple from Senec Zoltán Harsányi-Ľubomír Michalík who transferred to Bolton last year. In order to ascertain which player has a real chance to leave abroad, our daily have approached top domestic players` agents to say their opinions. „ I am sure there will be some offers for Artmedia on transfer of Juraj Halenár. Most notably because he is the best goalscorer after first half of the season”, said for HN agent Jozef Tokoš.

Top leagues only for watching
All transfer market experts claim the same - no domestic league player will transfer to one of the four most prestigious leagues during the winter transfer period (starts on 1 January 2008). „ There is interest in our footballers, but not from the five most prestigious European leagues. I do not expect that such transfer will become reality during winter “, stated for HN Milan Lednický. As another agent Juraj Vengloš revealed, scouts from top leagues regularly watch players in our first league. Last time, there were club officials from Germany, Italy and England. I know they are watching some players. But, unfortunately, I do not know if some serious offers will come” said Vengloš. Jozef Tokoš- an agent of Artmedia defender Marián Čišovský, confirmed the interest in his client„ I am still intensively working on his transfer. He got an appropriate age and performed well during autumn. I cannot say the details and the only thing I can say is, that they were watching him also in the previous match”, said Tokoš.

Millions of Euro? Absurd
The Bosnian national team player Edin Džeko transferred from the Czech team Teplice to Germany for 4 million Euros at the end of June. For Slovak teams, transfers like this are only utopia. „ The low quality of our domestic league and permanent failures of the Slovak national team determine the low transfer price of our players at the transfer market. If there are some transfers from the Slovak league, I presume that the price for a particular player will be around 600 thousands Euro”, said Juraj Venloš. The most expensive player of this year is still Stanislav Šesták, who transferred to German club Vfl Bochum for 750 thousands Euro. Paradoxically, the only player who can surpass Šesták´s transfer is not Slovak. „ The only player who is worth more than 1 million Euros in the Slovak league is Karim Guedé from Artmedia. I know he is a highly prized player by the club”, said Tokoš. Guedé is a member of the national team of Togo.
