A transfer of 16-year old player to a top foreign club is rare, taking into account Slovakian circumstances. Jozef Tokoš, Rendla´s agent, who negotiated with the Dutch, asserts that there is no answer to the question what procedure is best. „Some think that talented players, if given a chance, should leave for foreign academies when they are very young because of better team mates, rivals, conditions. Others claim that they should stay at home to be more mature, gain experiences from the domestic league so that they can transfer afterwards. Every case is different. If there is a chance like Rendla got, it will be a mistake not to go for it. “ Tokoš reminds of the fact that Rendla was lured by many academies last year. „We got offers from Arsenal, Bolton, Eindhoven, but Dukla Banská Bystrica reacted. They placed Rendla to its first team when he was 15. He was practising with the first team, played friendly games. When he turned to be 16, he played the competitive league games. Then Dukla agreed with the transfer.“ According to Tokoš, now it is important that Rendla transferred to the first team of a top Dutch club, to one of the best European leagues. The Holland football and league are known by the fact that big opportunities are given to young players. This applies to Twente as well, there are regularly 2-3 players around 18 years old playing. The Twente junior team is Dutch champions. The first half year will be important for Andrej, his adaptation. He was chosen by the head coach, he will be given a chance, which is good. We made the transfer in a way that Andrej has the biggest chance to play for the first team. The rest is up to him.“ Rendla signed a contract in Dutch. „The contract has approximately 10 pages, it was interpreted to English,“ Tokoš carries on. „If there were any language discrepancies in comparison with the version that was interpreted, we could step down from the contract. Everything was OK. All the negotiations were fair.“ Rendla has an obligation flowing from the contract to learn Dutch. He will take language courses. He could also attend school in the Netherlands, but he has to learn Dutch rudiments first. He is also entitled to use a car, according to the contract, even though he has no driving licence yet. There is one specialty in the Netherlands influencing Rendla as well. „There is a legal obligation to transfer a part of the gross salary to a pension fund. It specially applies to football players. It is almost one third of the salary. There is a precise chart, the deducted sum depends on the income. The money in the fund is paid to players after their career is over and of course is evaluated by some percentage,“ explained the agent. It means that Rendla will get Dutch pension once he terminates his career. How big depends on the years spent in the country as well as his income. „He did not have to be in the fund, but then he could not live in the Netherlands. Theoretically, he could live in Germany. Enschede is close to the border,“ concluded Tokoš.
