As to financial results, the club Manchester City owned by Arab sheiks has been recently keeping up with their most famous rival.

There is no other more successful city than Manchester from the viewpoint of football business. The clubs United and City are among top 5 earning clubs in the world. Charts worked out by Deloitte and KPMG confirm it. These two big rivals  played against each other in the Premier League last weekend  (City won 3:1). On this occasion KPMG analysed economic data of both clubs. Moreover, it has been 10 years since the take over of City by the company Abu Dhabi United Group owned by the sheik Mansur bin Zaid Al Nahjans.  „Both clubs have been very successful to increase revenues. The Citizens grow because of phenomenal sports success,“  Jozef Tokos, sports analyst and football intermediary said for the Economic Daily. The team coached by the Spaniard Pep Guardiola has managed to win three Premier League titles out of last seven seasons and play regularly very well in the prestigious Champions League.  On the other hand,  United won only one title for the same period of time. They do not play in the elite Champions League every year.  (...) Is it possible that City  will take over United in revenues one day and will they be the future world number one? „ It is not going to happen in the forthcoming years, possibly decades. The main difference is the overall popularity of the clubs throughout the world. For instance, United has twice more followers in the social media,“ says Tokos. (...)
