The Spanish top club is the first club in history with revenues more than three quarters of billion euro. Real dethroned  Manchester United.

Two years lasting dominance of Manchester United in the chart of revenues of football clubs has ended. They were replaced at the number one spot by Real Madrid. According to the annual chart by Deloitte, the overall revenues of Real Madrid in the season  2017/2018 were 750,9 million euro (...) .  The revenues of Real Madrid soared for more than 75 million euro in comparison with the previous season. The key factor for the growth and the return to the top of the chart was the third triumph in a row in the prestigious Champions League. „The clear sports success influenced the economic results of Real. We will see whether the numbers like these can be preserved the next year after the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo,“ Jozef Tokos, sports analyst and football intermediary said to the Economic Daily.

(..) As Jozef Tokos mentioned, it will be interesting to analyse the economic aspects after the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus in the summer 2018. „The Ronaldo factor will be reflected in the Deloitte chart the next year. We can take for granted that the revenues of Juventus will grow, be it merchandising, gate revenues or commercial revenues from business partners. On the other hand, sports results on the pitch will be much more important for Real in comparison with the previous years,“ adds Tokoš. Real Madrid has not been dominant this season. Nevertheless, they won the Champions League group, but lost twice. They are fifth in La Liga at the moment with a huge 10 points gap to the leaders FC Barcelona.

The overall revenues of 20 top earning clubs in the chart Football Money League are 8,3 billion euro growing 6 per cent in comparison with the previous year.  „This fact confirms the continuous growth of the top football industry. This trend has continued for several years. I do not expect any changes of that trend in the near future,“ claims Tokos.  He also adds that in case there is an economic recession in the near future it is very difficult at present to estimate its impact to the football industry.
