The Premier league elite suffers with injuries

(...)  According to the British company JLT Speciality specializing on finances, the World Cup in Russia organised the last year brought about an enormous increase of  injuries of football players this season. While the number of injuries of football players in the English Premier league was 78 in the previous season, this season this number soared to 114. The increase is 44 per cent. "This is not an error margin. This number confirms a huge impact on top players due to the tight schedule," Jozef Tokos, sports analyst and intermediary said for the Economic Daily. (...)

(...)  Manchester City has suffered the most. This club sent the most, 16 players from the squad to the World Cup in Russia. The injuries cost City 17 million of GBP. "However, there is something that can not be evaluated precisely in concrete numbers. How many additional points the clubs would have gained if they had had their key players fit," says Tokos. Jedným  One of the examples is (...) Tottenham Hotspur. The third Premier League club has been missing their top offensive players for weeks including the best World Cup scorer Harry Kane or the midfielder  Dele Alli. (...)

(...)  It is more and more important for the clubs to have broad squads of high quality footballers.  "It is very important ansd it might be a decisive factor of the overall success in the league," says Tokos. The current competition at the top of the Premier League is an example. FC Liverpool relies every game on 3 offensive players  Mané - Firminho - Salah, while Manchester City has more high quality players in their squad.
