Probably the biggest transfer of the winter within Slovakia was completed yesterday. Marián Čišovský transferred from MŠK Žilina to Artmedia Bratislava. It doesn’t happen often that players transfer from a top club to their table rivals. In this case, it has happened. Marián Čišovský, 26-year old right back, is moving back to the Danube river. He signed a two-year contract with Artmedia. The squad of the Slovakian champion and leader of the table after the autumn part of the season – Artmedia Bratislava is weakened after the success in the Champions League. The central back Jan Durica transferred to a Russian team Saturn Ramenskoye, defensive midfielder and the captain of the team Balázs Borbély went to a 6 months loan to a German club 1. FC Kaiserslautern and the playermaker Ján Kozák transferred to the English club West Bromwich Albion. Three key players are leaving. Moreover, the phenomenal goalkeeper Juraj Čobej undertook a difficult operation and the second central back Ondrej Debnár is out of the game after his knee operation. While already on February 15 Artmedia will play a UEFA Cup game against Levski Sofia, management of Artmedia Bratislava has to work hard to find replacements and strengthen the team. It is interesting that they have been hunting just the players from the Eastern Slovakia until now. After the forward Ľuboš Reiter (Chicago Fire) from Stropkov and the midfielder Dušan Sninský (Groclin Grodzisk) from Michalovce had signed with Artmedia, Marián Čišovský from Humenné joined the club. In the past he used to play for Bratislava's club. From Chemlon Humenné he transferred to Inter Bratislava. In the summer 2004 he transferred to Žilina. The former U21 national team player, who has 6 caps for A – team of Slovakia is returning to the capital. “After one and half year,” said Jozef Tokoš, Čišovský's agent and he continued: “But it is true that two foreign clubs were also interested in Maroš. In December it was the Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes, but the clubs didn't agree on a transfer nor the player. Then it was the Greek side PAOK Salonika, but a particular offer hasn't come. It had been taking time so long, so we decided.” Čišovský, whose contract with Žilina was to terminate in the summer this year, agreed with the transfer to Artmedia. Yesterday he already travelled to High Tatras, to join his new mates, where they are practicing in a winter camp.
