The midfielder Julius Szoke flew away to Kazakhstan yesterday. He has signed with Sakhtar Karagandy.

Almost two years ago on March, 2014, The midfielder Julius Szoke made his debut in the Slovak league for Ruzomberok against Zilina. He was loaned to the club from Liptov region as a registered player of Podbrezova. Later, he was also loaned to Zlate Moravce. Now he is up to something different. Yesterday he flew away from Vienna Schwechat airport to Kazakhstan to play for Sakhtar Karagandy. „I am happy. I have managed to transfer abroad, which I always wanted. This was my goal. There had been some interest, this time it has been finalised,“ 20 – years old player born in Hnusta said.

Sakhtar approached him ten days before the kick-off of the spring part of the Slovak league. „They were in Turkey in a training camp. They wanted to test me for 5 days and play two games. Due to a minor injury I joined them for 3 days and played one game.“ It did. The head coach of Sakhtar is Jozef Vukusic who knows Julius well.

The club won the Kazakh league twice (2011, 2012), the Cup once (2013) as well as the Super Cup(2013). Sakhtar played a European competition for the first time in 2006, altogether 29 games. They were quite successful in two seasons in a row 2013/ 2014 a 2014/ 2015 – he almost got to the group phase of the Champions league only to be beaten in play offs by Celtic (2:0, 0:3). Then they played in the group phase of the Europa League.

The last days were rather hectic. „We managed to obtain the visa one day before to the departure. I am glad that this transfer has been finalised. It has been quite specific and rare,“says the intermediary Jozef Tokos and reasons why. „If a player with only 5 appearances for the last half a year gets to a good team it is unique. Julius had to undertake a trial. Of course, the advantage was that the coach Vukusic knew him. That would not have been sufficient, though. He played well at the trial, including a game with Mariupol. He even scored a goal with a header. The club tested quite a few players for a number six including national team players. The timing and circumstances of the trial were ideal. He came, showed skills and they wanted him. I would also like to appreciate the attitude of his Slovak club ZP Sport Podbrezova. They agreed on the trial as well as the transfer,“ adds up Jozef Tokos. We conclude that one does not transfer abroad from Podbrezova every day so a pragmatic attitude has prevailed.
