Football players are setting up an association. We want our rights as well!

This time they should be successful. There have been several attempts to set up a players association since 2004, but no one has survived.

A new association representing interests of professional footballm players should be created very soon. It is guaranteed by a preparatory committe of the Board of captains of the Slovak premier league clubs comprising Jan Mucha, Robert Vittek, Marek Sapara, Viktor Pecovsky, Lubomir Michalik, Michal Gasparik and Jozef Piacek.

Jan Mucha alongside with a sports lawyer  Jozef Tokos took the initiative to protect interests of prossional players as a equal partner with clubs, the Slovak FA and media. He approached and met the captains of all Slovak premier league clubs. They signed a declaration, in which they obliged to set up an association to protect interests of prossional players in accordance with the law on sports. (...)

„Football players should have their rights, too,“ says the hero of the World Cup qualification 2010 a and the current goalie of Slovan Bratislava Jan Mucha. „We have approached representatives of players from all the clubs. They all agreed. We have support from all twelve clubs with signatures of 90 per cebnt of players. We have also met the secretary general of the Slovak FA Jozef Klimentom“ The players association should be registered soon as a civic association.
