Gerich signed a contract with Trnava

A Slovak football player Tomas Gerich (born on 11th August 1973) has definitely decided to play for the first league football club Spartak Trnava, in which he has been practising for three days so far. "Tomas signed a one-year contract with an option until the 30th June 2006 on Friday in the afternoon. His former employer from Presov registered him at the Slovak Football Association on the 5th February. According to the valid regulations, he could not wear another team’s jersey for the next six months. Gerich will not be allowed to wear Spartak jersey in a competitive match till 5th August 2004, when the contract comes into force. So he will miss the Sunday match against Puchov, but everything including administrative issues will have been arranged by the kick off of the match of the third round of the highest league in Bratislava against Artmedia,’ said Jozef Tokos, a licensed players’ agent, who represented the left footed 31-years old defender/midfielder playing with at negotiations.

Concerning a career in Slovakia, besides Presov, Tomas Gerich played in the 1. FC Kosice and Inter Bratislava, but he also played for the Czech club 1. FC Synot. Different reasons, mainly those concerning health problems, caused that other trials abroad (Sopron, Adanaspor, Aris Salonika) did not meet his expectations. "In his Tomas case, also Cyprus was at stake, but we finally decided for Trnava. The Spartak coach Vukusic wanted him in the team, Gerich’s health condition is good right now,’ said J. Tokoš about the player coming from Michalovce, who once played for the Slovak national team – in February 2002 in Tehran against Iran.
