Mucha is unlikely to stay at Legia. He leaves the club for 99 per cent

The Slovakian goalie Jan Mucha negotiates a new contract with Legia Warsaw, but the possibility he signs it is close to zero.

„It is not true, as quite often written in the Polish media, that we are about to sign a concrete agreement,“ confirms to Pravda Daily the player´s agent Jozef Tokos who talks to the Polish club representatives. „Mucha´s priority is to transfer to a top European league, to move one step up in his career. He leaves Poland for 99 per cent.“

He also adds that Legia at present does not have any official offer from other club concerning the Slovakian goalie. Goalkeepers are not the lucrative posts at the football market in comparison with playmakers or goalscorers. There are not so many goalkeeping vacancies in the big clubs in comparison with the defense or the midfield. “I carefully follow the development in top 5 leagues. In the summer there was no big transfer of a goalkeeper, no club paid for a goalie above 1M euro. The only exception is the French goalie Carrasso who transferred to Bordeaux for 8M euro. Apart from Carrasso, in the summer this club was considering also Mucha, who was also shortlisted” says Tokos. Mucha´s contract is to expire in the next summer, which is more than a half of the year. He will be a free agent. “He is thankful to the Polish club for the chance he was given. He definitely does not want to walk out for free, without any payment from his new employer,” explains Tokos.

If the key player of the Slovak national team was under a longer contract, the requested transfer fee would be around 2M euro. This sum was asked by Legia when French clubs were interested – Bordeaux or Toulouse. Now the transfer fee will be substantially lower.

In the second half of the World Cup 2010 qualification Mucha became the number one in the national team led by Mr Weiss. He played very well in many games. Tokos points out that he has been playing in the Polish league for more than a year in the same high quality way the Slovak fans saw him in the national team. „In the Polish league at some games he is even more at spotlight, because he is busier and has to deal with more one on one situations and other clear chances,“ he adds. „The performances for the national team helped him, of course. There have been many scouts around following specially him. They were at Chorzow, too. “

Is there an outside chance that Mucha stays in Warsaw? „If he got an excellent offer from Legia, it would be useless to transfer to a mediocre club in other European countries. He is waiting for a top club to call. On the other hand, the Polish club did not get even close to our expectations. Therefore, we did not get too far. My advise for Jan is to transfer. The time is ripe. I do not rule out the possibility he leaves in the winter. “

Mucha transferred to Legia from Zilina in 2005. The Polish club paid only 50k euro for him. He was not playing for 2 years, the Polish national team goalie Fabianski was preferred. After Fabianski´s transfer to Arsenal, the Slovak goalie was given a chance. He immediately played in many games in a row without a goal conceded. He gained respect.

„Legia never buys rich goalies. They are trained by the club. This is this club’s philosophy. Mucha was not an expensive player. His first contract did not guarantee him an extra high income. Even though his current one is to expire soon, I am convinced that the Polish club has not lost money on Mucha and will not lose any money, “concludes Jozef Tokos.
